MINISTRY LEADERS

Joel and Amy Garcia

Joel and Amy have been overseeing the Junior High Ministry for the last three years, and continue to heed the call to raise up the next generation for God’s glory. Joel enjoys teaching God’s Word to our Junior High-ers and also serves as a Worship Leader for CCSG. The Garcias first met at CCSG and have been married since September of 2011, and also serve in short term mission trips.

OUR KEY VERSES

  • “for you were formerly in darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; Walk as children of Light (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth).” Ephesians 5:8-9

  • “but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another; and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7

  •  “so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world.” Philippians 2:15

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The goal of in_Lighten Jr. High Ministry is to equip Jr. Highers to reject and/or repent of the sinful habits of this dark world, walk in the Light of Christ, and be a light in this dark world by spreading the gospel in word and example. We want to accomplish this by:

 1. Teaching of the Word at a level they can understand and is relevant to what they are going through, that they may live it out in their day-to-day lives.

  • Nehemiah 8:8 – “So they read distinctly from the book, in the Law of God; and they gave the sense, and helped them to understand the reading.”

  • James 1:25 – “But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”

2. Having regular events for them to have an opportunity to fellowship with one another and have fun and enjoy being at church.

  • Acts 2:42 – “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in prayers.”

  • Acts 2:46 – “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, the ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart…”

  • Hebrews 10:24-25 – “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

3. Disciple them gently and Biblically and be examples to them.

  • 1 Peter 5:2-3 – “Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock…”

4. Reach out to the community in love.

  • John 15:12, 17 – “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” “These things I command you, that you love one another.”

  • Acts 1:8 – “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
